No, you don’t need to bring anything to your first session. Together we’ll discuss how you are feeling and go from there.
Not at all, you are free to stop at anytime.
While therapy can feel challenging and can temporarily create a sense of upheaval and even feelings of grief, or anger, I always strive to work in a gentle, warm, encouraging and supportive way, at your pace.
Depending on your location, sessions are available in my practice between Penylan and Roath in Cardiff, or the Chepstow clinic. I also offer online sessions; these work best when you have a private space to talk, where your sure won’t be overheard. Many clients use their parked up cars to ensure privacy if no-where else is available.
Clients often ask, "What's the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?" Primarily, psychotherapists train at a higher level and for longer than counsellors. This consequently allows them to work both in the shorter term as counsellors or for a longer duration, often with a more specific focus on attachment issues or other traumatic experiences.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their professional code of ethics. I am also a member of EMDR Association UK.
